Prelude Come, Now is the Time to Worship Brian Doerksen
Jeffrey Harper
All who are able may stand
All: God built the earth on the deep waters,
laid its foundations in the ocean’s depths.
Leader: Who has the right to climb God’s holy mountain?
Or stand in this holy place?
All: God will bless them.
God, their Saviour will give them salvation.
Leader: Such are the people who come to God,
Who come into the presence of our God!
Youth: Fling wide the gates,
Open the ancient doors,
And the Holy One will come in!
Leader: Who is this Holy One?
All: God the glorious,
Whom we worship and praise!

Call to Confession Doubting Thomas Nickel Creek
Jeffrey Harper, guitar
Please meditate on the lyrics of the song as you prepare to confess your sins before God
Forgiving Lord, we come to you on our knees. We desperately try to understand your immense power, but we fall short. We hear the stories of Jesus’ resurrection and your love for your people, but find ourselves doubting. You appear to us even through locked doors, yet we are blind to you. And too often we fail to see the possibilities you have given us. Help us to believe in you, even when we cannot see you. Help us to trust in your mystery, even when we fail to understand it. Help us to see you in the moment-by-moment possibilities to live honestly, to act courageously, and to speak from our wisdom. Forgive us, strengthen us, encourage us. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen
(taken from Montreat Youth Conference Worship)
Moment of silence observed
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Leader: Let us show signs of reconciliation by greeting one another in the peace offered by Christ. May the peace of Jesus Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.

Responding to the Word
All Stand
Affirmation of Faith A Brief Statement of Faith, lines 52-71
We trust in God, the Holy Spirit,
everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith,
sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor,
and binds us together with all believers
in one body of Christ, the Church.
The same Spirit
who inspired the prophets and apostles
rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture,
engages us through the Word proclaimed,
claims us in the waters of baptism,
feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation,
and calls women and men to all ministries of the Church.
In a broken and fearful world
the Spirit gives us courage
to pray without ceasing,
to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior,
to unmask idolatries in Church and culture,
to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,
and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. Amen
