Haiti Fund
The Haiti Fund was begun by one woman who wanted to make a difference in the lives of the children of Haiti. In 1981 when Frances Landers heard Father Albert tell a child there was no room for her in the mission school, Mrs. Landers decided to do something to ensure that the children of Haiti would have a school to attend. Thus from her initial 8 room school built in 1981, there are now 32 schools scattered across the mountains of Haiti's peninsula. This growth has been made possible through contributions from churches and individuals across the U.S. Fifty-five dollars provides a full year of school for one child plus a hot lunch every day. Life for the people in the mountains of south Haiti is a continuous struggle against poverty, disease and political unrest. Our gifts, by enhancing education, are specifically used to benefit the children of the area where lives are being changed.
